END OF GAME

THE STATUS PHASE

:: This is where players check if they qualify for Victory points by claiming Public and Secret objectives, many of the game's functions are reset and where each round ends ::

:: QUALIFY FOR PUBLIC/SECRET OBJECTIVES ::

In order of play each player may announce that he qualifies for one face-up Public Objective and/or his Secret Objective card. Each Public Objective card may only be claimed once per player. Once claimed, players put a control marker on the objective to indicate that they completed it and move their marker up the scoring track by the appropriate amount of points.

As long as a player controls all of the planets in his Home System, even if blockaded - if there are enemy ships present - he may claim objectives that he qualifies for. However, if during the Status phase a player does not control all of the planets in his Home System, he may not claim Public/Preliminary/Secret Objectives this round. If in subsequent rounds that player regains control of the planets in his Home System, he must still meet the requirements of any objectives he wishes to claim during that round, even if he met them in a previous round but couldn't claim them then.

Players must complete their preliminary objective before drawing a Secret Objective card.

:: END OF GAME CONDITIONS ::

If any player advances his marker to the last step of the Victory point track, he has gained enough power to claim the Imperial Throne on Mecatol Rex. The Winnaran custodians step aside for their new emperor, who will lead the galaxy to a new age of prosperity and Peace.

The Imperium Rex Objective card may be drawn during the ACTION PHASE while executing the primary ability of the Imperial strategy card. In that case, the game ends immediately, and the player that has the most Victory points is declared the winner. If there is a tie, then the greater number of planets, then unused Command Counters, then total number of Command Counters on a player's race sheets determines the tie breaker. If there is still a tie, the game ends in a draw between the tiying players.

:: REPAIR DAMAGED SHIPS :: all damaged units with the sustain ability are returned to their normal position.

:: REMOVE COMMAND COUNTERS :: players return Command Counters from the board to their reinforcement pile.

:: REFRESH PLANET CARDS :: each player refreshes his exhausted Planet cards by turning them face up.

  • Planet refresh abilities can be activated at this time, in which case that planet is exhausted in the process.

:: PLAYERS RECEIVE 1 ACTION CARD and 2 COMMAND COUNTERS ::

:: REDISTRIBUTE COMMAND AREAS :: each player may now redistribute the Command Counters between his Strategy allocation, Command pool, and Fleet supply areas on his race sheet. A player cannot reduce his Fleet size under the size of his largest fleet.

:: RETURN STRATEGY CARDS ::

:: SCUTTLE :: at any time during the status phase, players are allowed to scuttle (destroy) any of their own units. These are returned to the player's reinforcement pile and become available for production.

:: END OF ROUND :: after the status phase is complete, the game resumes with a new STRATEGY PHASE until a player is declared the winner.
